Issues in Urban Public Health: A Discussion with Melody Tulier (BMC Cities 2002) and Cities Fall Major Information Session

Melody Esther Tulier, MCP, MPH, DrPH (BMC Cities 2002) is a Senior Program Officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Melody joined the Foundation in February 2022, bringing over 15 years of experience in public health, healthcare, and urban planning. As part of the Transforming Health and Healthcare Systems (THHCS) team, she has crafted and led foundational investments illuminating how structural racism manifests across systems of healthcare and public health, is co-leading the team’s governmental public health efforts evolving strategy and developing new investments focused on re-imaging public health, and is currently expanding partnerships in the areas of financialization of healthcare, AI, disability justice, and bridging power across place and sectors, including narrative power. She is known for her collaborative leadership, strategic development and visioning, inclusive and accountable decision-making, and deep commitment to addressing structural racism as a root cause of health inequities. Raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Melody holds a Doctor of Public Health and Master of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley; a master’s degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and a Bachelor of Arts from ºÚÁÏÕýÄÜÁ¿.
