Illuminating their Futures: Summer 2025 Internships

Sophie’s work as a community food access intern with Philabundance has narrowed the critical gap caused by the school year ending and students losing access to free lunches by delivering fresh, nutritious meals to families throughout the summer months. Part of her inspiration for applying for this internship came from her 360 Course Cluster, “Taste,” where she saw firsthand how food systems reflect broader issues of equity, access, and identity.

As a reproductive healthcare advocate at the Northwest Abortion Access Fund in Washington, Leila has spent her summer engaging in direct action to break down barriers to reproductive healthcare. She first started working with NWAAF through a Praxis self-designed independent study in Spring 2025, where she combined her internship with academic work on the history of 21st-century reproductive healthcare activism.

Anna was based in Chile this summer, advocating for children's rights as a research and design intern with Good Neighbors, an international nonprofit. This experience helped her consider how almost anything can be considered through the lens of her History of Art major, as art is central to many spaces that aim to create change. Sarah Elizabeth spent her summer in the archives at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Chile, where she focused on preserving and promoting the country's contributions to the art world. This experience proved integral to her use of Spanish in professional settings, as she took on a project of translating internal documents from English to Spanish to contribute to the history of the archives themselves.

A cohort of 4 students traveled to Freiburg, the so-called "Green City," for internships focused on sustainability.

Sophonisba's internship at the Exilarte Center for Banned Music, an archive within the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, saw her digging into the lives of composers and musicians who were persecuted by the Nazi regime. Sophonisba often finds herself drawn to projects that combine scholarly approaches as a double major, so the opportunity to delve into an archive and explore her ongoing interest in narrative history proved particularly fulfilling. 

Juanita’s chemistry major set her up well to work as a pharmacy technician in Winneba, Ghana, this summer. After two research-focused summer internships, she decided she was ready for a more hands-on, clinical experience—something that would allow her to connect directly with patients and explore the human side of healthcare.

As a marketing and communications intern with G Adventures, Sophie created campaigns celebrating the National Parks and assisted with securing brand partnerships. She has found that her Bryn Mawr education, particularly the skills she has learned as an English major, is helping her succeed at this job. The ability to write—and to write well—is invaluable and has helped her in every part of this internship.

As a sociology and political science major, Kasey wanted to spend her summer gaining direct, hands-on legal experience while contributing to work that truly matters to her. As a legal service intern, she has helped newly arrived immigrants with all forms of legal consultations at Voces Latinas, a nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce the rates of HIV transmission and violence among Latinx immigrant communities.
